Water – [poem]

Pure and simple does it flow
from high spring to salton seas
as come in the form of rain or fog
does the water flow long and free
dew upon blades – needles pine
to the jungles with coffees and tea
to the great plains of Arkansas
does the water flow long and free
stopped at glacier cold, frozen stiff
burrows of caves with no light for one to see
cascade from Sierra mountain cliffs
does the water flow long and free
hovering around mountain crest
low to the valley desert floor
weeping damp though it may be
does the water flow long and free
between mangrove root – spider web
forests of fallen log and tree
through the hooves of deer , paw of bear
does the water flow long and free
Encased in man, as courage sets sail
Harpoon, old man, and the sea
While onward to battle, colossus of the deep blue
Does the water flow long and free
Mother to us, with lessons at breath
Turns a leaf to say unto thee
Stream forth through pebble and cliff
Through rapid jungle, tarnished bark
For I will say again unto thee
A life be not worth living
If it flows not like water, long and free
